Your franchise fee is held under a strict 3-year lock-in agreement. To ensure capital preservation, MGM pays a monthly/annual interest yield on this amount equivalent to prevailing PSU Bank Fixed Deposit (FD) rates. At the end of the 3-year term, the principal is returned in full as per the franchise agreement.
